Career Counselling
To help you discover your strengths and inform your next career move.

“The privilege of a lifetime is to become who you truly are.”
-Carl Jung
Are you in high school and are starting to feel the pressure of choosing a college program or a university major?
Do you feel like you are not interested in anything at all? Or maybe it’s just the opposite; you have so many ideas and you aren’t sure which idea is the right one?
Or perhaps you are already working in a career, maybe one that you thought you always wanted and you worked hard to achieve, but you feel unsatisfied, and you know something is missing?
Not knowing how to move forward in your career can be frustrating, stressful, and overwhelming. A lack of clarity can leave you feeling stuck and unsure of your next steps.
When uncertainty sets in, you may hesitate to make important decisions, such as whether to return to school, or pursue a career change. Over time, job dissatisfaction can heighten stress, lower motivation, and may lead to symptoms associated with anxiety and depression.
How Can Career Counselling Help?
Unsure of what college or university program to select, feeling uncertain and confused?
Career interests and work preferences clarified so you can make informed choices.
Not understanding yourself well? Having conflicts in personal or work-relationships?
Gaining insight into your personality type, personal strengths, and preferences. Using that information to communicate more effectively with others and to make smart career moves.
Career Counselling Sessions with Jennifer
I offer targeted short-term career counselling services that utilize the Strong Interest Inventory to help clarify and define your unique career interests. Additionally, I incorporate the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) to assist you in gaining a deeper understanding of your individual personality preferences and how they can inform your career choices.

The Strong Interest Inventory helps you discover your personal and career related interests and work preferences so you can make informed schooling or career choices that align with what you like. When you understand what you like (or what you don’t like!) you are better prepared to make thoughtful career decisions so you end up working in a career that brings you happiness!
The Strong contains 291-questions and takes approximately 25 to 35 minutes to complete. The Strong reports on your preferences in six general interest areas: Realistic, Investigative, Artistic, Social, Enterprising, and Conventional (the RIASEC). It additionally provides insights on basic career areas that may interest you, specific jobs you are well-suited for, and your personal styles of interaction in education and employment.

The MBTI is a personality assessment tool based on the theories of psychiatrist Carl Jung. It is designed to help you understand the dimensions of your personality and how you may be similar or different in comparison to others. The MBTI is a 93-question assessment, which takes approximately 20 to 30 minutes to complete. It measures your preferences on four personality pairs, resulting in you being classified into one of sixteen unique personality types. The four personality pairs on the MBTI are:
Extraversion (E) vs. Introversion (I): This dimension measures where you get your energy from. Do you feel energized after being around a large group of people, or is this draining for you?
Sensing (S) vs. Intuition (N): This dimension assesses how you take in and process information from the world around you. Do you use your five-senses to inform your reality, or do you notice underlying meaning and patterns in what you observe?
Thinking (T) vs. Feeling (F): This dimension measures how you make decisions. Do you tend to use your head or your heart?
Judging (J) vs. Perceiving (P): This dimension assesses how you approach the outside world. Are you more of a planner, or are you someone who tends to be more spontaneous?
The MBTI can be useful in the areas of: improving communication, conflict resolution, career planning, managing change, and decision making.
What is the Process?
If you are only seeking career assessments and do not require ongoing psychotherapy or EMDR therapy, please reach out and indicate which assessment(s) you wish to complete.
An appointment (in-person or virtual) will be scheduled and then the assessment(s) will be sent to you by email where you will complete it online. One session to review the results is needed for each assessment.
When you are done completing the assessment(s), I will generate your report. We will review your report in detail during your appointment, and you will be provided with a paper and/or digital copy of your report.
If you are looking to additionally begin psychotherapy, we would begin with an intake session and then decide collaboratively when the most appropriate time is for you to complete career assessments based on your other needs.

Hi, I’m Jennifer!
As a Certified Career Development Practitioner and former Employment Consultant of six years, I have helped hundreds of people clarify their career interests and learn more about themselves.
In high school, I lacked career guidance, leaving me uncertain about my future when I began university. This led to years in an unfulfilling automotive career, unrelated to my majors. I eventually returned to school for my Career Development Practitioner Certificate to help others choose rewarding careers.
